STEWART AVE
Residents Association

Stewart Ave is a quiet little residential avenue just off Military Road. With the quaint old traditional row houses, it’s exactly what people think of when they imagine Newfoundland.

The Stewart Ave Residents Association has a simple mission. While big industry tries to take over St. John’s one street at a time, we aim to keep Stewart Ave the quiet, residential street it’s been for over one hundred years.

WHO WE ARE
We’re the residents on Stewart Ave, Military Rd, and surrounding areas. Some houses on Military Rd have their back yards on our quiet little street.
KEEP IT BEAUTIFUL
We are committed to keeping Stewart Ave the small, quiet, space that it’s been for over 100 years. One of the last hidden gems in St. John’s.

St. John’s is under constant threat of being overdeveloped, industrialized, and losing its quaint charm. Under the guise of a non-profit, 42 Bannerman St has been operating an industrial kitchen, rented off to private for-profit businesses.

Even though this building isn’t zoned for commercial use, they’ve been operating illegally all hours of the night, any day of the week.
A loud industrial fan echoes down our sleepy street, disturbing all the residents. A shipping and receiving truck has blocked our narrow road, often preventing entering or exiting Stewart Ave altogether!

Now they’re asking to make it legal. They’re trying to rezone this heritage building, allowing it to be rented off for commercial baking, 7 days a week.
